Santos de Cartier Medium (first series)

The Santos de Cartier Medium WSSA0010 represents the first series of Cartier's landmark 2018 relaunch of the Santos line, one of the most historically significant collections in watchmaking. Housed in a 35.1 mm stainless steel case, it occupies the medium tier of the relaunched Santos family, offering a versatile size suited to a wide range of wrists. The silvered opaline dial with Roman numerals preserves the graphic clarity that has defined the Santos aesthetic since its origins in the early twentieth century.

The Santos de Cartier traces its lineage to the pioneering aviator's wristwatch created for Alberto Santos-Dumont in the early 1900s, making it one of the earliest purpose-built wristwatches in horological history. After decades of evolution, Cartier undertook a comprehensive redesign of the Santos line in 2018, introducing a refined case architecture, an updated integrated bracelet system, and the in-house Calibre 1847 MC. The WSSA0010 belongs to this first series of the relaunched medium reference, produced through approximately 2021, and is regarded by collectors as the inaugural expression of the contemporary Santos format.
