Overview
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 (ref. Q8008520) is a limited-edition dress watch produced between 2014 and 2015 to commemorate the original Geophysic issued for the International Geophysical Year of 1957–58. Housed in a 38.5 mm stainless steel case measuring 11.4 mm in thickness, it strikes a considered balance between vintage proportion and modern finishing. The white dial combines luminous Arabic numerals with stick markers, preserving the legible, instrument-oriented character of its ancestor.
History
The original Geophysic was developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the late 1950s as a precision instrument watch, supplied to scientists and explorers participating in the International Geophysical Year. Decades later, the manufacture revisited the design for a limited series of 800 examples, introduced in 2014 and produced through 2015. The revival attracted considerable collector attention as one of the more historically grounded re-editions in the Geophysic line, which JLC has continued to develop with additional references in subsequent years.
Notable points

- White dial with luminous Arabic numerals and stick markers echoes the instrument-watch legibility of the 1958 original.
- The reference directly commemorates the International Geophysical Year of 1957–58, lending it clear historical provenance.
