The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A is the stainless steel expression of the 40.8 mm Aquanaut line, pairing the collection's signature embossed checkerboard dial with the manufacture's in-house automatic movement. As the entry point into the Aquanaut family by material, the reference has become one of the most recognised and sought-after sport watches in the contemporary Patek Philippe catalogue. Its rounded octagonal case and integrated composite strap give it a distinctly modern character that sets it apart from the dress-watch tradition for which the maison is historically known.

The Aquanaut line was introduced in the late 1990s as Patek Philippe's answer to a growing demand for a robust, casual-wear sport watch, drawing loose stylistic inspiration from the Nautilus while establishing its own identity. The 5167A arrived in 2007, enlarging the case to 40.8 mm and housing the then-new Cal. 26-330 S C, an automatic movement with a peripheral rotor and a date complication.
