It was powered by the calibre 3186, a movement developed specifically for the GMT-Master II line and notable for its Parachrom hairspring, which offers improved resistance to shocks and magnetic fields. The reference remained in continuous production for well over a decade, making it one of the longer-running two-tone GMT-Master II references in the modern era. It was eventually succeeded by the 126713GRNR in 2019, which introduced the now-iconic "Sprite" green-and-black bezel alongside the updated calibre 3285.
