Overview
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 reference 26400SO is a large-format sports chronograph that pushes the Offshore design language to its most assertive extreme. Its 44 mm stainless steel case is anchored by a black ceramic bezel, while dial variants spanning black, ivory, and camouflage green give the reference a distinctly tactical character. Powering the watch is Calibre 3126/3840, AP's integrated automatic chronograph movement.
History
The Royal Oak Offshore line was conceived in 1993 as a deliberately oversized, more aggressive counterpart to the original Royal Oak, and the 26400SO sits firmly within that tradition. Produced from 2014 through 2021, the reference occupied the top of the steel Offshore chronograph hierarchy during its run. The camouflage-green dial variant in particular attracted strong collector attention, becoming one of the more visually distinctive executions in the broader Offshore family. Its discontinuation in 2021 has since made all dial variants objects of sustained secondary-market interest among Offshore enthusiasts.
Notable points
- 44 mm stainless steel case pairs with a black ceramic bezel — a material combination that reinforces the Offshore's sport-tool identity.
- Calibre 3126/3840 is an integrated automatic chronograph movement developed in-house, featuring a column wheel and a peripheral rotor architecture.
- The Méga Tapisserie dial pattern — a bolder, larger-scale version of the classic Petite Tapisserie — is a hallmark of the Offshore generation.
- Three distinct dial executions — black, ivory, and camouflage green — were offered across the reference's production life, each with its own character.
- Produced from 2014 to 2021, the 26400SO represents one of the last expressions of the 44 mm steel Offshore chronograph before AP's subsequent design evolution.
