Overview
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1R-001 presents the iconic 5711 case in 18k rose gold, paired with a distinctive brown-black gradient dial bearing the line's signature horizontal embossing. At 40mm, it occupies the same footprint as its stainless steel siblings while projecting a markedly warmer, more formal character. Powered by the in-house Calibre 26-330 S C, it represents one of the most refined expressions of Gérald Genta's original 1976 Nautilus design.
History
The 5711 generation of the Nautilus was introduced in the mid-2000s as a modern reinterpretation of the original ref. 3700, retaining the porthole-inspired bezel and integrated bracelet that defined the line. The rose gold 5711/1R-001 variant entered production around 2015, offering collectors an alternative to the more prevalent steel references. Production of the entire 5711 line concluded in 2021, when Patek Philippe announced its discontinuation — a decision that cemented the reference's status as a landmark in contemporary watchmaking. The 5711/1R-001 is now regarded as a significant collector's piece within the Nautilus canon.
Notable points
- Case and integrated bracelet crafted entirely in 18k rose gold, lending the Nautilus silhouette a warmer, dressier presence than the steel variants.
- Brown-black gradient dial with horizontal embossing is unique to the rose gold reference, distinguishing it visually from the blue and black dials of steel models.
- Calibre 26-330 S C is a manufacture movement offering hours, minutes, seconds, and date — refined for the slim profile demanded by the Nautilus case.
- The 5711 line was discontinued in 2021, making all references in the family — including the 1R-001 — closed chapters in Patek Philippe's production history.
- Gérald Genta's original porthole-inspired bezel and integrated bracelet design, introduced in 1976, remain faithfully preserved in the 5711/1R-001.
