Heritage Black Bay Black

The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Black, reference 79220N, is a short-lived variant of Tudor's celebrated Black Bay diver line, distinguished by its uniformly dark presentation across dial, bezel, and case finishing. Produced across a narrow window in 2015 and 2016, it occupies a specific and collectible niche within the broader Black Bay family. The 41 mm stainless steel case and ETA-sourced Cal. 2824 movement place it firmly in the accessible, tool-watch tradition that defines the Heritage Black Bay line.

Tudor relaunched the Black Bay line in the early 2010s as a deliberate homage to its own mid-twentieth-century diving heritage, drawing on design cues from references such as the 7922 and 7923. The 79220N Black variant emerged within that lineage as a monochromatic interpretation, pairing the signature "big crown" architecture with an all-black aesthetic that had growing appeal among collectors at the time. Its brief production span of roughly two years has since made it one of the more sought-after early Black Bay references. The use of the ETA Cal. 2824 reflects Tudor's movement strategy of that era, before the brand's broader transition toward in-house calibres.
